History and Discography

The Sine really hasn't got a history yet - 1 EP in over a year isn't much to write home about but hopefully over time more EP's and more information will appear in this section!
'A New Beginning' is named appropriately as the new start of a new project. After several failed bands it was decided to do something different and that sounds unlike other previous efforts.

A New Beginning

Released and completed June 05
The EP features John Gates on lead vocals on tracks 1,2,4,5

1 - We're Living A Lie
2 - Broke And Broken
3 - Hard To Turn Back
4 - I'll Find My Way
5 - Under Every Rock

'We're living a Lie' opens the CD with a sample of a violin riff i stumbled across. The overall sound was inspired by Metallica's S&M album and Silverchair's Neon Ballroom album. Its a loud, angry song and i used this as an outlet for some thoughts i was pondering at the time.
'Broke and Broken' was written after leaving some people and places behind that meant a lot to me. It seemed fitting on this EP as it is also about starting something new and fresh.
'Hard To Turn Back' is an old song and is one of those songs written in the time of a "what the hell am i doing?!" moment. No guest vocals on this track so i guess it must be me singing! Sorry, i have to do one occasionally!
'I'll Find My Way' is a very old song written in a stressful time but trying to take a comical look at it hence some of the lyrics. Clear Nirvana influence (or rip off) but with influence from the Offspring on the verses.
'Under Every Rock' is a song showing just how low i got at one stage but its writing songs like this that helps deal with situations. I remember writing the chorus - the lyrics are my conscience talking to me. Keeping the pain in a "safe box for a rainy day" is it saying to me that these thoughts/worries will probably never disappear and i'll only remember them when i'm low. Bizarre but kinda how i felt but its also true of a lot of people i think - not just me. Had good fun with the solo on this one with a blend of backwards FX, wah and use of my new guitar. Good work from JG on vocals on this song particularly.

So there you go. An EP that very much explained my world at the time. Fortunately life has got better and its only in hindsight i realised this is quite an emotional record. The next EP should be a progression and is likely to be much more positive!
